Anomali, the leader in modernizing and scaling security operations, and Cybermindz, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to bringing, scalable, direct, peer-informed mental health support to embattled cyber teams, have joined together to deliver essential services and other resources to the fast-growing number of cybersecurity professionals who are experiencing burnout, stress, and other job-related issues that are degrading their emotional and cognitive health.
To support Cybermindz’ U.S. launch, Anomali will also sponsor the organization’s inaugural Mental Health in Cybersecurity Leadership Summit, which will take place on Monday, April 24th, 2023 in San Francisco. The event, which is free and open to cybersecurity professionals, will bring together up to 100 cyber practitioners and leaders to explore possible solutions to a growing mental health epidemic.
“The exponential rise in cyber risk over the past few years has taken a considerable toll on today’s defenders, who are suffering record-breaking stress, fatigue, and other ailments,” said Mark Alba, Anomali Chief Marketing Officer. “Anomali recognized early on that staff fatigue was a growing concern and dangerous for organizations intent on preventing or minimizing the impact of cyberattacks. We are proud to join CISA and other industry leaders to support Cybermindz’ initiative and look forward to helping to introduce their proven services to a wider audience. With the event coinciding with the RSA Conference, it couldn’t be more timely.”
Cybermindz, which first launched in Australia in 2022, seeks to alleviate the suffering of cyber teams and return them to mental wellness and peak performance through the implementation of the evidence-based iRest protocol, which has been successfully applied within military settings since 2004. Cybermindz has partnered with the California-based iRest Institute and Dr. Richard Miller, developer of the protocol.
“The iRest protocol has a very strong track record of success helping returning veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan manage PTSD, stress, depression, anxiety, insomnia, and pain management. For the past year, we've been doing pilot programs using this protocol with both public and private sector cyber teams in Australia. We know it works. With the help of inaugural partners such as Anomali, Cybermindz now can help extend the delivery of these proven services to the unsung heroes of our time, our cybersecurity workers,“ said Peter Coroneos, Founder and Executive Chairman, Cybermindz. “We must build a strong and resilient cyber workforce. Our future depends on it.”
