Easterly Asset Management Appoints Deb Tobin as Chief Compliance Officer

Easterly Asset Management (“Easterly”), home to investment teams providing investors with a portfolio of solutions across alternatives, active equity, and active fixed income, today announced the appointment of Deb Tobin as Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) of Easterly Investment Partners LLC (EIP), Easterly’s SEC registered investment adviser. Tobin assumes the CCO position after serving as Senior Compliance Officer at Easterly since February 2023.

Easterly has segmented its compliance and legal functions to support growth and ensure the firm is best positioned to further scale its operations. In her new role, Tobin will continue to report to Ken Juster, Easterly’s General Counsel who previously led compliance at the firm. She will also serve as a member of Easterly’s management team, collaborating with the firm’s Strategic Partners to develop, implement, and enforce compliance policies and procedures to maintain the company’s performance within the regulatory framework. Juster will continue to serve as the firm’s General Counsel.

“Deb’s expertise has played an instrumental role in supporting Easterly’s growth over the past two years,” said Darrell Crate, Founder and Managing Principal of Easterly. “This appointment reinforces our organization’s commitment to compliance and demonstrates our dedication to providing our Strategic Partners with experienced leaders who have the know-how to collaborate and drive business growth.”

Tobin holds over 20 years of compliance experience in the asset management and investment advisory business. She previously led the Global Distribution Compliance Center of Expertise (CoE) at Manulife Investment Management (approximately $509 billion in AUM as of 9/30/2024), the asset management arm of Manulife Financial Corporation, a global financial institution that has protected investor assets since 1887. The CoE provided regulatory guidance to business partners regarding global cross-border marketing and distribution requirements for investment management services and registered and private funds. Prior to her seven-year tenure at Manulife, Tobin held various risk and compliance roles at Financial Engines, one of the largest independent investment advisers in the United States, and Fidelity Investments, where she managed the firm’s operational risk oversight for FMR Co. and broker-dealer compliance programs for Fidelity Management Trust Company.

“As we continue to grow, I am excited to carry on Easterly’s strong culture of compliance, collaborating with the management team, and implementing strategies that enhance our governance and risk management framework,” said Tobin.

Tobin earned her Master of Business Administration from Simmons University, and previously served as the Chair of the Board of Directors for The Midas Collaborative, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, advancing the financial security of low- and moderate-income individuals across Massachusetts.
