SEWELL, N.J. - Sept. 19, 2024 - PRLog -- William O'Hanlon, a MAGA candidate running for mayor of Washington Township, has filed formal complaints with the Department of Justice (DOJ), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the New Jersey Attorney General's Office. His complaint accuses acting Mayor Laurie Burns of orchestrating a coordinated effort to keep him off both the primary and general election ballots. O'Hanlon claims Burns directed key officials—including Christine Ciallella, Barbara Moore, Robert Wright Jr., Esq., Robert Uyehara, Esq. and Christopher Milam—in actions that constitute election interference and fraud.
O'Hanlon, an Independent conservative, believes that Mayor Burns viewed him as too strong of a candidate and, fearing his potential success, directed others to take every measure possible to exclude him from the race.
Allegations of Election Interference:
- Petition Challenges and Ballot Obstruction: After gathering 68 signatures, well above the required 50, O'Hanlon submitted his petition to Christine Ciallella. However, Ciallella, acting under the direction of Laurie Burns, transferred the petition to Barbara Moore, who then accepted a challenge filed by Chris Milam, the Democratic Party Chairperson, without proper investigation. Despite O'Hanlon's submission of proof of residency, including multiple forms of identification, Moore dismissed his petition. O'Hanlon claims this was a coordinated effort led by Burns to block his candidacy.
- Misleading Legal Advice from Robert Wright Jr., Esq.: According to O'Hanlon, Solicitor Robert Wright Jr., Esq. also played a key role in obstructing his campaign. Wright allegedly misled O'Hanlon and his attorney, jokingly pretending to be a friend and assuring O'Hanlon that he had ample time to object to Moore's decision. By the time his objection was filed, the ballots had already been printed, which O'Hanlon believes was an intentional delay orchestrated by Wright under Burns' direction.
- Interference with Voter Rolls: O'Hanlon further alleges that Christopher Milam, leveraging connections at the Gloucester County Board of Elections, had his name removed from the voter rolls, falsely claiming he was not a resident. His registration was only restored after the retirement of Milam's father, Michael Milam, from the Board of Elections.
- Misinformation in the General Election Process: After being blocked from the primary ballot, O'Hanlon decided to run as an Independent in the general election. Despite receiving confirmation from Christine Ciallella that his original petition would suffice, she later informed him that he needed 100 signatures instead of 50. Furthermore, she provided the wrong address for petition submission, continuing what O'Hanlon describes as a pattern of misinformation and deliberate obstruction orchestrated by Laurie Burns.
- DOJ Corruption: Robert Uyehara, Esq., appointed as prosecutor for Washington Township by Laurie Burns, is continuing to prolong a case involving William, despite the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office having sent the case for dismissal. This action appears to be intended to tarnish William's reputation throughout the election process.
An active investigation is underway into the actions of Robert Wright Jr., Esq., led by Catherine Merino Reisman of the District Ethics Committee (Docket No. IV-2024-0032-E). O'Hanlon's complaint also notes that Chris Milam has been recently charged for unrelated illegal activities as Chairperson of the New Jersey Transit Authority.
"I believe that Laurie Burns and her team's actions were a direct attack on my civil rights and a blatant effort to undermine the democratic process," said O'Hanlon. "Their coordinated efforts to keep me off the ballot have been disgraceful. In our democracy, no candidate should face such blatant interference from those in power."
O'Hanlon is calling for a thorough investigation into the conduct of Laurie Burns and her associates and for legal consequences to be imposed on those found guilty of wrongdoing.
