Kathleen Ingfried Haskins publishes a book about her amputee friend Lee Raymond Blanchette

By: WebWire

“A really charismatic fellow, very resourceful, caring, and enthusiastic at the time…” this is how author Kathleen Ingfried Haskins describes her friend Lee Raymond Blanchette. An amputee, Lee had made quite an impact on Kathleen, who considers herself blessed to have known him. She found him so remarkable that she wrote a book about him, a biography titled “The Unyielding Passion for Life of Lee Raymond Blanchette, a Remarkable Man” (Outskirts Press; 2020).

“The Unyielding Passion for Life of Lee Raymond Blanchette, a Remarkable Man” tells the story, struggles, and dreams of Lee as Kathleen knew him to be: a wild, troubled youth who grew up as a talented, compassionate adult. Lee aspired to be the first above-the-knee amputee to kayak the whole length of the Mississippi River so he could encourage other differently-abled persons to live their dreams.

Both Kathleen and Lee grew up camping, hiking in mountains, canoeing rivers, and loving nature, which makes up most of Lee's life and aspirations. The author is a recipient of her friend's many stories and experiences. Lee's stories, as told to and shared by Kathleen in the book, revolve around his early life, his love for the outdoors, ambitions, struggles with alcoholism, and relationships with the people he met along his life's journey.

Kathleen wrote “The Unyielding Passion for Life of Lee Raymond Blanchette, a Remarkable Man” to inspire young adults in dire circumstances, alcoholics, persons with substance abuse disorder, and people with handicaps. She exhorts her readers to never allow their circumstances to define them and instead rise above their adversity and take responsibility for their futures.
