i365, a Seagate Company, Joins Microsoft System Center Alliance

i365, Inc., a Seagate Company (NASDAQ:STX), today announced that the company has joined the Microsoft System Center Alliance, a network of technology partners supporting Microsoft System Center. i365 recently partnered with Microsoft to offer EVault® for Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager (DPM) 2010, a heterogeneous solution that allows IT managers to extend DPM 2010 across non-Microsoft platforms and into the cloud, using i365’s EVault data protection software and Cloud-Connected storage solutions infrastructure.

The combination of i365’s EVault and DPM provides companies with a single solution that extends DPM to protect data from both Microsoft and non-Microsoft environments. EVault for DPM will give customers an integrated data protection environment for Microsoft file servers and applications, as well as other platforms and applications, such as UNIX, Linux, Novell Netware, VMware, IBM i and Oracle. One integrated solution for all platforms, along with the Cloud option, enables IT teams to provide data protection and disaster recovery more efficiently and with less cost.

“Our membership in the Microsoft System Center Alliance is indicative of our commitment to helping our customers meet the challenges of maintaining business continuity in cross-platform, multi-site environments,” said Terry Cunningham, senior vice president and general manager, i365. “Cloud-based data protection solutions are proving to be an important part of disaster recovery initiatives for our customers. By combining our established EVault Software with Microsoft’s DPM platform, we are continuing to offer Cloud-Connected solutions that provide efficiency, security, and flexibility for more customers every day.”

“The broad offerings from our System Center Alliance partners extend the capabilities of System Center and help our customers reduce their overall IT management costs,” said JD Marymee, director Strategic Alliances, Microsoft Corp. “i365’s EVault data protection software and Cloud-Connected storage solutions infrastructure extend the protection offered by Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager to many platforms within the enterprise. This helps our customers manage heterogeneous data protection with a single user interface and enables IT teams to manage large numbers of physical and virtual machines with lower cost and effort.”
