A gamer was attacked by his girlfriend with a samurai sword because he spends many hours playing games but manages to defend himself by adapting moves from a martial arts Kung Fu movie series.
LOS ANGELES - March 22, 2018 - PRLog -- Alex Lovell, a 29-year-old gamer, was stabbed by Emily Javier, his girlfriend, using a samurai sword she bought from a local shopping mall in Camas, Washington. Alex, known as "Biggie" in the local gaming scene, plays PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds for 12 to 13 hours a day.

According to him, he woke up from a dream only to find Emily viciously hacking him. Thankfully, he was able to survive by relying on what he calls Wing Chun, as he claims to be knowledgeable in the said martial art after watching the movie Ip Man and managed to stop Emily's attacks and bear-hug her. The 29-year-old, however, still sustained deep cuts on his fingers, arms, feet, legs, torso, and neck, and needed surgery to have three of his fingers reattached.

Emily, who called 911, said that Lovell just "sits at home all day playing video games and does not do anything to help." She also claims to have discovered that Lovell is cheating on her, as she found the Tinder app installed on his phone, scratches on his back, and red hair in the shower drain. Alex denied the cheating and told Buzzfeed that it was the gaming – one of Emily's complaints – that exhausted him and killed his sex drive.

Emily's been charged with first-degree attempted murder, to which she pleaded not guilty.

In the meantime, Biggie has now recovered from his injuries, but he says he will need extensive physical therapy to gain full use of his hands again. A GoFundMe campaign has been launched by members of the "PlayerUnknown's Battleground" gaming community and has so far raised more than $8,282 (£5,909).
