Hardened steel is a base element of mining industry fabrication

Badger Sheet Metal Works marks 10 years in its modern facility
GREEN BAY, Wis. - June 19, 2018 - PRLog -- Mining industry fabrication is a specialized segment of material handling fabrication that requires expertise in extra-hard materials capable of withstanding extreme demands. Badger Sheet Metal Works has developed a reputation as a quality mining industry fabrication supplier through its experience with a wide range of metals.

AR400 steel is the primary grade used in mining industry fabrication in Wisconsin. Heat-treated to enhance hardness, AR400 alloys can last up to four times longer than conventional structural plate. The abrasion-resistance properties of AR400 steel are ideal for applications in which high-impact wear is the norm.

"Mining, gravel production and other similar industries require steel fabrication products that can survive rugged operations," says Kenny Coe, director of sales at Badger Sheet Metal Works. "We select the appropriate grade of AR400 steel depending on the target application. These can range from material handling fabrication orders to dump body liners and conveyor systems."

Various grades of AR400 steel yield differing characteristics for welding, machining and grinding, bending and forming, wear resistance and corrosion resistance.

Mining industry fabrication fits perfectly with Badger's updated facility
Badger Sheet Metal Works is celebrating 10 years in the company's custom-designed plant. The facility's large-scale capabilities were designed for handling heavy projects such as those in mining industry fabrication. The plant's 70-by-320-foot main assembly bay features four crane rails with a total lifting capacity of 30 tons and a 22-foot under-hook height.

A third-generation metal fabricator based in Green Bay, Wisconsin, Badger Sheet Metal Works also is celebrating its 95th anniversary in 2018, all under the leadership of the De Caster family.

The company's safety focus includes regular on-site classes conducted by Fox Valley Safety Training Inc. Training topics are designed to meet or exceed OSHA requirements and cover a wide range of subjects. June training topics focus on fall protection and fall protection equipment.
