South Texas Law Firm Holds Essay Contest to Increase Awareness of Technology and Distracted Driving

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX, September 26, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The law firm of Herrman & Herrman, P.L.L.C. is pleased to announce the 4th annual Innovation Scholarship Essay Contest with $5,000 in prizes to help young people further their educations and raise awareness of the effects of technology on distracted driving.

The Innovation Scholarships provide financial assistance to help pay college-related expenses. Students are invited to compete for the scholarships by writing original 600-word essays discussing what changes can be made to technology in cars to reduce driver distractions. The three contestants chosen as scholarship winners will receive checks in the amounts of $2,500, $1,500 and $1,000.

Many people rely on technology including navigation systems, radios, video players and cell phone apps while driving. While advances in automotive technology serve the overall purpose of making vehicles safer to operate, some types of technology such as infotainment systems can create distractions. The essays will explore what changes can be made to make technology in cars less distracting.

The essay contest is open to high school juniors and seniors, and students enrolled in two-year or four-year undergraduate programs at colleges and universities in the United States.

The winners will be selected based on the originality and creativity of the essays.
