September 26, 2018 - North Carolina is all set to host the inaugural edition of Carolina Film Festival. Showcasing the very best of shorts, music videos and creative works from around the world, Carolina Film Festival will be held on October 13, 2018 at Johnson & Wales University's Hance Auditorium in Charlotte NC. The Red Carpet event will begin at 2:45pm, followed by the main film festival between 3:00-6:00pm.
The first edition of Carolina Film Festival brings to lovers of global cinema, music and creative arts an enjoyable evening hosted by North Carolina’s famous actress and model, Hope Jordan. The Red Carpet event will also feature live performances from the award winning group, ISH, and a special appearance from the official mascot of the Carolina Panthers, Sir Purr.
The inaugural edition has received an enthusiastic response from countries well known for their love for the celluloid world, including India, Canada, Africa, Italy and more. The award categories are Best Short, Best Trailer, Best Drone, Best Music Video, Best Director, and Most Creative.
Another not-to-be-missed event is the Q&A panel featuring prominent Hollywood personalities. These include: Marcus Small (producer of videos for P. Diddy, T-Pain, and other Grammy winning artists, and TV show producer for MTV, Lifetime, Bravo, etc.); Joslyn Hall (actress from season 2 of FX's critically acclaimed TV show, "Atlanta"); and Eric Small (executive producer of films featured on Netflix, BET, TV One, and more).
This year, the Festival will honor radio and TV personality from North Carolina, Tonya Rivens, with the Humanitarian Award. Tonya’s show, ‘Sounds of Inspiration with Tonya Rivens’, is currently featured on Streetz 103.3, Sundays, and the weekday Traffic Reporter. She can also be seen on WCCB, Charlotte's CW, and News Rising. Tonya runs a non-profit, The Ausie Rivens Community Center/Scholarship Foundation at her small business, the Rivens Business Center operating as TRivens, LLC.
