Mr. Gerald Blake Lee is a visionary entrepreneur and business executive with extensive experience in the growth and management of successful start-up ventures. Mr. Lee is the Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Modern Logistics which he incorporated in 2012. Four years prior, Mr. Lee Co-Founded Azul Airlines, Brazil's third largest airline where he created the corporate structure, negotiated and closed the US$235M initial investment and acquired financing for the Company's fleet of aircraft. Mr. Lee started his corporate career with a six-year tenure as a securities lawyer at Nixon Peabody LLP where he led JetBlue's acquisition of LiveTV. In 2003 to 2008 he held several roles at JetBlue Airways including Vice President of Business Development, Director Corporate Finance, Corporate Counsel, and Assistant Treasurer. From 1987 to 1997 he served in the NYC police department including several years as an undercover detective in the Organized Crime Control Bureau of New York City's Police Department. Mr. Gerald Lee holds a JD from the University of Virginia and a BS in Accounting from NYU Stern School of Business.
Mr. Lee's extensive experience with JetBlue and Azul coupled with his legal and business background gave him the necessary insight to discern the market opportunity for the launch of Modern Logistics. Brazil has an extremely limited infrastructure to service its growing industrial capacity. Mr. Lee cites the lack of rail transport, forcing companies to transport goods manufactured in industrial centers throughout the country via precarious roads and inefficient river barges.
As a result of his vision, reputation, and experience, Mr. Lee was able to arrange an initial private placement of approximately U$60 million from DXA Investments and substantial financing from the US. This capital has enabled Modern to build a platform which provides manufacturers with disruptive supply-chain transformation solutions in Brazil. Modern's unique platform insulates the Company from foreign competition and creates an optimal environment for Mr. Lee to meet his aggressive growth plans.
