ACPMP Research Foundation Funds Two $50,000 Research Grants

Two grants bring total funding issued by ACPMP to $1,200,000 since 2009
INDEPENDENCE, Ohio - April 22, 2019 - PRLog -- The Appendix Cancer / Pseudomyxoma Peritonei Research Foundation (ACPMP) is pleased to announce the recipients of our 2018 research grant cycle.

With these two grants, ACPMP has now issued $1,200,000 in the form of 25 promising research grants over the past 10 years designed to improve the diagnosis and treatment of Appendix Cancer and Pseudomyxoma Peritonei.

The following researchers will each receive a $50,000, two-year research grant funded by ACPMP and administered by the National Organization of Rare Disorders:

Principal Investigator: Konstantinos Votanopoulos, MD, PhD

Institution: Wake Forest University, USA

Project Title: Immune system enhanced appendiceal cancer organoids for ex vivo determination of immunotherapy efficacy in appendiceal cancer

This grant is issued in memory of Barrett Peterson, Roger Graham, and Aly Kendall

Principal Investigator: Shyh-Dar Li, PhD

Institution: University of British Columbia, Canada

Project Title: Modulation of Tumor Immune Microenvironment for Enhanced Therapy of Pseudomyxoma Peritonei

This grant is issued in memory of Joyce Davitz, Paula Druse, Neil Elkins, Robert FitzGerald, Marcia Fosburg, William Howard, Francine Lane, Doug Lawler, Christina Nuzik, Geoff Pierce, Stanley Pollack, Ronnie Rabon, Laura Rinier, E. Annette Sauer, and Yvonne Stevens
