Volunteers Provide Computer Training, Job Search Skills

Inc. volunteers with decades of corporate and non-profit professional experience at all levels work directly with individuals looking for a second chance at a life and career. DistancEd. Inc. Ex-convicts, veterans and other disenfranchised people can learn basic computer skills; mobile technology and applications; resume building skills, and practice live job interviews by contacting the organization. They will participate in an interactive interview to determine their needs and skills level, then be matched with the appropriate course, mentor or coach.

Smith, a retired IBM business development executive. "And, through our partnerships, we also can help point them in the right direction to find an employer open to hiring them."

With unemployment at its lowest level in decades, businesses are struggling to find employees. "We hope to bridge the gap between these companies and groups of citizens that want to work and long for a second chance to be productive," said Smith.
