Hangzhou students have received offers from Oxford

Several students in Zhejiang province recently received offers from Oxford University as the university released its admission letters to prospective students.

According to incomplete statistics offered by a Hangzhou based institute specifying in applications for overseas studies, more than 100 straight A students across the country were admitted by Oxford University this year.

Four Hangzhou students studying at Hangzhou No 2 Middle School, Hangzhou Foreign Language School, and Zhenhai School were among the accepted students.

This year, the number of offers sent from Oxford University to Chinese students was larger than last year's total, which was about 100.

A teacher at a training institute said that British universities focus more on the competitiveness of examinees showcased at contests, as well as their intellectual curiosity and research abilities. In this regard, Chinese students tend to excel, they said in Hangzhou China.

The teacher also noted that the offers these students received from Oxford are only pre-admission notices. The result will be finalized only when they provide their official A-level and IELTS results according to the requirements.
