Atlanta, Georgia Jan 29, 2021 (Issuewire.com) - As we enter into Black History month coupled with a worldwide pandemic that is forcing many students to learn remotely, experts predict remote learning will fail Black and Brown students more severely than others.

With many educators calling for a major overhaul of the K-12 curriculum so that Black history, which is vital to understanding American history, is better integrated into mainstream U.S. history classes. That important cry will most likely be forgotten if parents don't take matters into their own hands.

Amina Phelps has done just that. The IAM Royalty book series was created to provide children's books on the market that promote positive images and stories about Black culture. We believe that reading historical stories that illustrate people of African descent as heroes, victors, founders, creators, and contributors to society it will instill pride and confidence in Black children by knowing that they were and continue to be major contributors to the world.

I AM Mansa Musa, IAM Queen Nzingha, IAM Queen Amina and I AM The Haitian Revolution, ($12.99 1Brick Publishing, August 2020) author Amina Phelps and mother of two has tapped into her quest to teach her kids knowledge of self and self-love into a stellar catalog of Black History lessons for elementary students that are not included in textbooks.

These children's books retell stories of historical queens, kings, and revolutionaries in an empowering way. Written as if they were told by an African Griot they provide vivid images of the characters to illustrate the importance of representation and include elements of African culture in a celebratory and powerful way.

"I believe it is important to share these stories to our children because it allows them to build a powerful sense of self and pride. I've learned from my elders that your behavior is a demonstration of what you believe to be true about you. It's the primary reason why I branded the series I AM Royalty, you must know who you are and when you know who you are you will act accordingly."

Amina Phelps is a creator, writer, and lover of history and wanted to share her childhood experience with other African American children across the world. "Growing up I remember learning these stories in elementary school and acting them out in plays to perform for the community. I will never forget how good it felt to feel like royalty and hearing stories that I had never heard on the news or in the media."

"Being armed with this information and knowing that there is 4000 years of history prior to slavery, the struggles of the Jim Crow and civil rights movements gave me a strong sense of hope and pride that I could be great and played a huge role in the decisions I made throughout my childhood and young adult life."
