YMCA Day of Giving – National Day to Support Local YMCAs

The YMCA is launching its annual YMCA Day of Giving on Tuesday, March 2, 2021. YMCA Day of Giving is a one-day giving event that provides an opportunity to give to local YMCAs. The Y is one of the nation’s leading nonprofits strengthening the foundations of communities through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

YMCA Day of Giving was started in 2015 by the YMCA of Northwest North Carolina under the leadership of Curt Hazelbaker, who later joined the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas as President and CEO in 2017. Y Day of Giving was launched in Dallas in 2018 and spread across the country two years later.

Since inception, YMCA Day of Giving has enabled the Y to raise over $1.5 MILLION in charitable gifts to support local communities throughout the country.

“The YMCA Day of Giving is a great way to rally behind the important work being done on a daily basis at the YMCA’s across the country,” said Hazelbaker. “The community always steps up when there is a need, and we are hopeful for a big response this year. All funds that are raised on the Day of Giving allows the YMCA to serve tens of thousands of people in our community.”

YMCA associations across the country will have in-branch fundraising activities, while donations can be made online at www.ymcadayofgiving.org.

Funds raised this year will go towards COVID-19 Support, swim and water safety, childcare, camps, healthy living, preschool, STEM, youth sports, youth & government, and more. Donations on YMCA’s Day of Giving will help ensure that local communities across the U.S. will be supported by their local Y as communities begin to recover from the effects of COVID-19.
