ADHD 360 and Banovallum School launch the first neurodiversity toolkit for UK schools

ADHD 360 and Banovallum School have launched the first toolkit for schools to support neurodiverse pupils.

Nettleham, Lincoln - December 19, 2022

ADHD 360 and Banovallum School have launched a practical and effective toolkit for the nation's educators to raise awareness and standards of care for neurodiverse pupils.

School is a vital environment for children. It provides essential academic learning and facilitates the building of the foundations for emotions, well-being and general mental health.

The goal is to welcome a new era of embracing ‘difference’, which seeks to understand neurodiversity from an enlightened position. ADHD 360 believes that it is vital that educators, who are responsible for children's development, are encouraged to exchange knowledge and competence within their discipline while recognising their own professional boundaries when doing so.

Phil Anderton, managing director at ADHD 360 said, “Our experience of working in the fields of ADHD and autism has provided us with a unique perspective on the role teachers, teaching assistants, governors and school leadership teams can play in the holistic development of a neurodiverse learner.”

The comprehensive toolkit provides easy-to-follow techniques which, in many cases, make for excellent teaching practice. Some exercises, such as matching the colour of subjects on the timetable with the colour of the subject’s exercise books, are simple but highly effective measures, which beg the question, ‘why hasn’t that been done before?’

Grant Edgar, headteacher of Banovallum School said, “The work carried out by Phil and his team in conjunction with our SEND team and Ben Johnson will be vital in ensuring Banovallum is a school where students with ADHD can succeed.”

As a collective, ADHD 360 and Banovallum School are reaching out to schools throughout the United Kingdom, distributing the Neurodiversity toolkit to support educators in their mission to help children reach their full potential in life. The team is encouraging schools, teachers and parents to help them to drive this toolkit into practice and beyond.
