Hitachi to Cancel the Posting of an Extraordinary Loss of Restructuring Charges
on an Unconsolidated Basis for the Year ending March 31, 2007
Tokyo, March 29, 2007 Hitachi, Ltd. (NYSE:HIT/TSE:6501) today announced that it will cancel the previously announced posting of an extraordinary loss of 64,845 million yen as an allowance for doubtful receivables relating to an advance to a subsidiary experiencing a downturn in business performance, which was posted for the first half of fiscal 2006, ended September 30, 2006.
However, in order to promote subsequent new business development, the capital of the subsidiary was increased on March 28, 2007 for the purpose of strengthening business structure and business control function in North America and implementing strategic business investment in the future. Due to such increase in the capital of the subsidiary, Hitachi will not post such extraordinary loss for the year ending March 31, 2007.
Hitachi will not change its business forecast on an unconsolidated basis for the year ending March 31, 2007 at this time.
