PART III — NARRATIVE
State below in reasonable detail why Forms 10-K, 20-F, 11-K, 10-Q, 10-D, N-SAR, N-CSR, or the transition report or portion thereof, could not be filed within the prescribed time period.
Alaska Communications Systems Group, Inc. (the “Registrant”) was unable to timely file its Annual Report on Form 10-K for the period ended December 31, 2007 (the “Report”). The Registrant experienced delays in finalizing its financial statements and related footnotes for inclusion in the Report due to the Registrant’s discovery of accounting issues during the course of its annual review of financial results and application of financial controls applied to the preparation of financial statements for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2007. Thus, the Registrant was thus unable to complete and file the Report within the prescribed time period without unreasonable effort or expense.
The Registrant will file its Annual Report on form 10-K on or before March 21, 2008.
