The MolinaCares Accord Supports Washington Community Organizations to Address Health Disparities

The MolinaCares Accord (“MolinaCares”), together with Molina Healthcare of Washington, recently donated $350,000 in grants to further advance programs enhancing health equity.

Washington state ranks second in the country for most unhoused people per capita, according to data from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. And food and housing costs continue to rise, often impacting the resources available for many to access health care, particularly those in underserved communities.

MolinaCares will help extend services in the following areas:

• Supporting indigenous families in accessing culturally congruent prenatal and post-partum care, as well as childbirth assistance from indigenous doulas;
• Funding innovative support in Latinx communities in rural areas for those dealing with depression;
• Increasing timely access to care for people with autism by training behavioral health providers located in primary care settings in a curriculum designed to support caregivers;
• Supporting the health of children and adults who have been or currently are unhoused;
• Offering youth and families impacted by a diabetes diagnosis with a traditional camp experience and general support strategies;
• Identifying and addressing the social determinants of health needs of Latinx communities; and
• Supporting the training and certification of culturally responsive peers to support high-risk transitional age youth and their families.

• University of Washington Latino Center for Health
• University of Washington Institute on Human Development and Disability
• Washington Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (WCAAP)
• Catholic Charities of Eastern Washington (CCEW)
• American Diabetes Association Camp Sealth
• Seattle Children’s Research Units in Behavioral Intervention (RUBI)
• Consejo Counseling and Referral Service
