Elected officials and community leaders took time away from their busy schedules on the eve of an important primary election to attend the Grand Opening ceremony for LevelUp MD’s newest urgent care center located at 263 Utica Avenue in Brooklyn.
The dignitaries on hand included New York State Senators Kevin Parker and Jabari Brisport, NYS Council Member, Hon. Farah N. Louis, 45th District, Brooklyn, and Assembly Members, Latrice Monique Walker, 55th District, and Monique Chandler-Waterman. Community activist and youth group leader, Jamell Henderson, Godfre Bayalama, Chief of Staff to Senator Myrie, and others joined LevelUP MD, founder, and CEO, Mordy Getz. Rabbi Abe Friedman presided over the event.
“LevelUp MD Urgent Care was founded on the belief that everyone deserves an elite level of medical services in a comfortable and dignified setting, regardless of where they live or what type of insurance they carry,” Getz said. “Our newest Brooklyn location fills a void for local residents who have few quality urgent care options.”
Indeed, all politicians in attendance spoke about the “healthcare desert” that exists in poorer neighborhoods that lack the resources and support to afford the high standard of health care enjoyed by residents in wealthier areas of the city.
“In this time when basic rights to health are in question, we are grateful that LevelUp has opened this incredible facility right here on our streets,” said Senator Parker. That sentiment and the importance of unity were other points officials addressed to the crowd. All urged members of the public to have their voices heard by voting.
After touring the facility, Senator Brisport said, “What I just saw was truthfully a world-class facility right here in Crown Heights. It’s amazing that the people who live and work nearby can now get this quality of care. I am grateful that LevelUp MD chose to open one of their facilities here.”
As with LevelUp MD’s other walk-in clinics in Brooklyn, the Bronx, and New Jersey, the new Utica Avenue facility features bi-lingual staff, lab services, and EKG, and comfortably appointed waiting areas and exam rooms. Patients can receive PCR and rapid antigen COVID testing, COVID therapeutics such as monoclonal antibodies, COVID vaccines as well as immediate care for illnesses and injuries, cuts, sprains, strains, and fractures, and most other urgent conditions for patients of all ages. Additionally, LevelUp’s scope of non-urgent medical services includes sexual health and wellness, vaccinations, sexual health screenings, Occupational Health screenings, pre-participation employment, and sports physicals.
Known in the industry for its groundbreaking approach to medicine, LevelUp MD is one of the few urgent care providers to offer “single swab” testing for COVID, Flu A, and Flu Band RSV viruses which not only saves patients from repeated discomfort, but it also eliminates the cost and waiting time for test results associated with multiple virus cultures.
