Registration for the annual Snooze Mattress & Wellness Lake Norman Turkey Trot is now open for runners who want to join the event in person or virtually.
-- Epic Sports Marketing has confirmed the return of the Snooze Mattress & Wellness Lake Norman Turkey Trot for its 19th year, giving local runners and families an opportunity to celebrate Thanksgiving Day with fitness, community spirit, and charitable giving.

As the only half-marathon available within 150 miles of Charlotte, NC, this year’s event will support the Human Health Project, an initiative providing grants and donations of food items to local shelters. Organizers are encouraging participants to bring a non-perishable food donation at registration. “Athletes can also donate digital currency by contacting us directly for instructions,” a representative from Epic Sports Marketing said.
The Turkey Trot offers multiple race options, including a half marathon (13.1 miles) beginning at 7:30 am, a 10K starting at 7:35 am, and a 5K starting at 7:40 am. A virtual run is also available for those unable to attend in person, allowing athletes to complete a distance of their choice while still receiving official race swag. All races will start and finish at Life Fellowship Church in Cornelius.
“From medals to hoodies, we make sure no participant leaves the event empty-handed,” the spokesperson added. Finishers will receive a medal, short-sleeve tech shirt, cup, and beanie. Half marathon runners who register by October 20 will also receive a hoodie.
Top finishers in the half marathon, 10K, and 5K will be recognized with overall and age-group awards, while virtual participants will receive a participation medal, race shirt, and other swag shipped directly after the race.
The event schedule begins with an online pre-race webinar on November 24, followed by packet pick-up at Charlotte Running Company on the same day. Additional packet pick-up opportunities are available on November 26 and on race morning, November 27, starting at 6:30 am. The half marathon course will officially close at 11:15 am.
The Lake Norman Turkey Trot has evolved over nearly two decades into a cherished Thanksgiving tradition in Cornelius and the greater Mecklenburg area. First launched 19 years ago, the event has continually grown in popularity, drawing runners from throughout the Charlotte region and beyond.
Interested participants are encouraged to register early to secure guaranteed swag and to join the community in celebrating health, wellness, and giving back this Thanksgiving.
