Dermatologist at Enlighten Dermatology and Wellness Uses Saorsa Swift Wart Removal Machine for Plantar Warts Treatment

Enlighten Dermatology and Wellness, a dermatology practice in Dallas, TX, is pleased to announce that they use a Saorsa Swift microwave therapy machine for plantar warts treatment. The Swift machine is equipped with a portable microwave generator that produces the low dose microwaves that are directed towards the affected tissue to get rid of the warts. The microwave energy will cause the temperature of affected tissue to increase rapidly, which then activates the body’s immune response. The immune system will then work on getting rid of the plantar warts. More about the dermatology practice can be gleaned by visiting their Instagram page at https://www.instagram.com/enlightendermatology/.

Plantar warts, just like other kinds of warts, are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), but they have the additional inconvenience of being located on the soles of the feet. This means the force exerted on the plantar warts while the person is walking, running, or performing tasks often results in pain and discomfort for the patient. The Saorsa swift machine offers the advantage that it can be accurately directed at the affected area. This avoids inadvertently causing harm to healthy tissue.

The Swift microwave machine is equipped with an applicator that looks like a wand or a pen, which makes it easy for the dermatologist to direct the microwaves to the affected tissue. It also has a sensor that detects if the disposable tip of the applicator has not been replaced by a new one, in which case it will not operate. This is a safety feature designed to prevent cross-contamination.

It is also important to note that the Swift machine will not cause any break in the skin and therefore will not need bandages and dressings, which are typically used when applying other ways of getting rid of the plantar warts. For those who worry about the possible harm from the microwaves, microwave energy has already been in use in medicine for more than 30 years, particularly in the treatment of certain types of cancer. In addition, only a small dose of microwaves is used. Nevertheless, certain patients will need to inform the physician if they: have metal plates or pins in their feet; are suffering from poor circulation; are immune-suppressed; are wearing a pacemaker; or are pregnant or breastfeeding.

The Swift protocol is capable of getting rid of plantar warts in just three to four treatment sessions. Each session will only last for only 5 to 10 minutes, in contrast to the usual one-hour treatment sessions, which is a great convenience for the patient and the clinician. These sessions are scheduled four weeks apart to make sure they are aligned with the natural immune cycle of the body. The pain that is experienced by the patient during the treatment session is minimal and will only be present while the microwave energy is actively working on a wart, which lasts for just a few seconds. Most patients have reported that it felt just like a scratch or an injection.
