Scottsdale, AZ, June 22, 2024 — The Country Club at DC Ranch, a leading Scottsdale golf course, proudly hosted the Wingman Open golf tournament on May 20, 2024, to raise funds for Folds of Honor. The tournament was a tremendous success, with sellout participation from 120 golfers and the generous help of over 20 volunteers. Through this event, an impressive sum of over $400,000 was raised. These funds will directly support educational scholarships for Gold Star families, severely injured Veterans and First Responders throughout the greater Arizona area.
The day began under the unusual overcast skies of a May day in Arizona, adding a serene backdrop to an emotionally charged event. The opening ceremony was marked by a stunning display of parachute gliders and the solemn sound of bagpipes, creating a poignant reminder of the sacrifices honored during the event. Significant contributions were made by Club Members, including noteworthy figures such as Tom Lehman and Matt Neumann, whose involvement was instrumental to the event’s overwhelming success.
Folds of Honor, the beneficiary of the Wingman Open, is a respected national organization committed to supporting the families of military personnel and first responders affected by loss or severe injury. Since its inception in 2007, Folds of Honor has awarded over 52,000 scholarships amounting to more than $240 million. These scholarships ensure that the families of heroes who have sacrificed for the nation’s safety and freedom are not left behind in their pursuit of education.
