Alaska Communications Recognized by Global Industry Alliance for Carrier Ethernet Services

Building on the company’s 2013 certification as a Carrier Ethernet 2.0 (CE 2.0) service provider, Alaska Communications (NASDAQ:ALSK), Alaska’s leading broadband solutions provider, is now the first in Alaska to earn the Metro Ethernet Forum’s CE 2.0 E-Access certification.

The certification recognizes Alaska Communications as the only carrier based in Alaska to meet international standards to connect carrier customers in and out of Alaska, offering instant access to Carrier Ethernet services in the state.

“The achievement of the CE 2.0 E-Access service providers is a testament to their commitment to outstanding delivery to carriers and the enterprise market. Metro Ethernet Forum CE 2.0 E-Access standards will enable carriers and enterprises to choose service providers with greater speed, clarity and certainty,” said Metro Ethernet Forum President Nan Chen.

“With ever increasing cloud-enabled business applications, Alaska businesses have critical needs that require reliable and standards-based business broadband. We are excited to deliver on these requirements, now with CE 2.0 E-Access that further extends our capabilities as Alaska’s only CE 2.0 service provider. This demonstrates our commitment and leadership in bringing world-class broadband capabilities to Alaska businesses,” said Matt Peterson, Alaska Communications vice president, engineering.

The certification allows Alaska Communications to quickly meet customers’ mission-critical requirements, reduces time to deploy and upgrade services, provides an increased level of reliability and allows businesses to achieve global coverage with interoperable connections, management and performance.
