Alaska Communications Systems Group, Inc. (“ACS”) (NASDAQ:ALSK) is proud to announce the expansion of its CDMA network to Metlakatla, and the grand opening of a new retail outlet on Thursday, August 16th, within the AP&T office, located at 147 Tait St.
“ACS has expanded its CDMA network in Southeast Alaska to include the community of Metlakatla, providing the best mobile wireless coverage throughout the area,” said Anand Vadapalli, senior vice president of network and IT. “We have once again partnered with AP&T to offer Metlakatla customers the convenience of shopping for ACS products in their own community, delivering on the ACS commitment to meet the telecommunications needs of residents, businesses, and visitors across Southeast Alaska.”
The new Metlakatla site not only augments wireless coverage, it offers enhanced voice and data capabilities, allowing Metlakatla residents and visitors access to mobile wireless Internet connectivity at peak speeds that are multiples of dial-up. These mobile wireless data services are available on ACS cell phones, Smartphones, Pocket PCs, and laptop cards.
The ACS retail outlet Grand Opening in Metlakatla begins Thursday, August 16th and runs through Wednesday, August 22nd. Store hours are 8 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. To celebrate the store’s opening, a selection of free phones will be available to new ACS customers and to those converting to ACS’ enhanced CDMA wireless network. Visitors may also enter a drawing to win a free Motorola KRZR.
