Tenfold Protocol Breaks DApp Scalability Wall with Top 10 Game HyperDragons

By: PRLog
'Layer-2' protocol brings database scale to blockchains like Bitcoin and Ethereum. Tenfold Protocol is the first production scaling solution to deliver. HyperDragons, a top 10 Ethereum game has gone live with Tenfold Protocol. Before Tenfold, HyperDragons' arena battles were limited to 32 concurrent players per battle; now, the game accommodates 2,048 players per battle. Additionally, HyperDragons supports up to hundreds of Arena battles per day, up from about three before Tenfold.
SAN FRANCISCO - Sept. 24, 2018 - PRLog -- Tenfold Protocol is the first production scaling solution to deliver. HyperDragons, a top 10 Ethereum game has gone live with Tenfold Protocol. Before Tenfold, HyperDragons' arena battles were limited to 32 concurrent players per battle; now, the game accommodates 2,048 players per battle. Additionally, HyperDragons supports up to hundreds of Arena battles per day, up from about three before Tenfold.HyperDragons is a strategy game where players construct kingdoms, accumulate assets and battle on the blockchain. HyperDragons recently integrated Tenfold into the Arena battlefield portion of the game as the first stage of a multi-pronged integration effort. For the next stage, HyperDragons will integrate Tenfold into the Castle War gameplay.

HyperDragons players are saving money. More than 95% of in-game transactions are now processed off-chain via Tenfold, saving players hundreds of dollars per day in Ethereum transaction costs. Since Tenfold enables the new version of HyperDragons to be written using traditional programming languages and technologies, players can expect better, faster gameplay and updates. "HyperDragons is a great game and with Tenfold it'sbetter, faster and cheaper for players," said Tenfold Protocol CEO Derek Chiang. "We are excited to deliver our layer-2 scaling solution to the HyperDragons community."

"Our games & DApps powered by Tenfold Protocol offer a tremendous experience and value for our customers," said Yiyi He, Co-founder of MIXMARVEL, a leading blockchain gaming community and content sharing platform and parent company of HyperDragons. "With Tenfold, our blockchain in-game experience has the potential to rival the traditional game user experience. HyperDragons is just the beginning of Tenfold and MIXMARVEL's relationship - all upcoming MIXMARVEL games and the community will be powered by Tenfold"

Within MIXMARVEL's gamified platform, new and veteran blockchain enthusiasts create content, interact, play games and use DApps. While HyperDragons was the first blockchain game released by MIXMARVEL, next up for Tenfold integration is Ground Hunter, MIXMARVEL's blockchain-based first-person shooter game to be followed by a full slate of games and development toolkits integrated with Tenfold coming to the MIXMARVEL platform over the next year.

-- Background

Scalability is a major problem for blockchain apps — called "DApps" for decentralized applications (DApp) technology. DApps built on the most popular blockchains like Ethereum and Bitcoin are limited by the slow speed of the underlying technology.  Games, social media and communications require constant, numerous updates, slowing blockchain networks to their knees, and shooting up transaction costs. This is especially true for DApps that require constant, numerous updates like games, social media and communications. DApps built on the most popular blockchains like Ethereum and Bitcoin are limited by the slow speed of the underlying technology.

Valued together at approximately $150 billion, Bitcoin and Ethereum are the most valuable blockchains in the world. They are considered very secure but slow and expensive. This is because transactions are heavily replicated on the blockchain's peer-to-peer network for maximum security, and every update to the database requires the user to pay a fee to the network. While these features are great for security and stability, they are horrible for DApp user experience. For example, games on the blockchain are slow and expensive because every transaction, no matter how small, needs to be written to the blockchain. The industry is hard at work building the tools to make Bitcoin and Ethereum applications work as fast as those on the Internet — these solutions are often referred to as "layer-2" because they work on top of existing layer one blockchains (like Bitcoin and Ethereum) to achieve scale and speed.

One of the newest layer-2 solutions is Tenfold Protocol. Tenfold Protocol uses a novel approach that combines decentralized file storage, P2P networking, and crypto-economics to process general transactions off-chain, while still using the layer one blockchain for the most security-sensitive, high-value transactions. Tenfold Protocol brings unparalleled speed, scale and cost saving to Ethereum DApps. The solution also works with any blockchain and has the extra benefit of allowing DApps written in any programming language to run on Tenfold.
