CANTON, Mass., Mar. 11, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Destination XL Group, Inc., [OTCQX: DXLG] the largest omnichannel specialty retailer of big and tall men's clothing, announced today that it has donated more than $250,000 to Feeding America's COVID-19 Response Fund, driven by a portion of sales from their protective face masks.
The company, which began producing and selling masks in April 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, partnered with Feeding America as they focused their efforts to get needed food assistance and supplies to families hit hard by the pandemic.
"When COVID-19 took hold of the world, we wanted to help in any way that we could. DXL responded quickly by designing, producing and selling the much-needed protective face masks online and in our stores when they safely reopened," said Harvey Kanter, DXL Big + Tall President and CEO. "But we knew our responsibility was even greater than providing these essential masks—we wanted to help the most vulnerable members of the community as well. Feeding America's COVID-19 Response Fund helps us do just that during this difficult and unprecedented time."
The Feeding America network—a powerful and efficient network of 200 food banks and 60,000 food pantries across the country—helps provide more meals to children, families, and seniors than any other domestic hunger-relief organization. For more than 40 years, Feeding America has responded to the needs of individuals facing food insecurity in this country.
Due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic, more than 50 million people may experience food insecurity, including a potential 17 million children, according to Feeding America. Many households that experience food insecurity do not qualify for federal nutrition programs and need to rely on their local food banks and other hunger relief organizations for support.
"Millions sought help from food banks for the first time over the past year, and record demand for food continues into 2021," said Lauren Biedron, Vice President of Corporate Partnerships at Feeding America. "We are grateful to DXL Big + Tall for its commitment to help fight hunger in communities across the country."
DXL Big + Tall is located in Canton, MA, has a history of philanthropy and helping out by answering the call to assist others in need. From their long-standing partnership with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital to numerous local outreach efforts, the Company prides itself on social responsibility throughout its stores, home office, employees, customers and communities.
