D’Ron Maingrette Makes a Return After a Long Hiatus From the Internet

By: Get News

D’Ron Maingrette, also known as “D1,” an esports commentator, makes a return to the internet after a hiatus, while finally speaking up about the allegations raised against him. Rising to fame in the last several years, D’Ron became known for his role in boosting the growth of the Super Smash Bros. community.

D’Ron Maingrette rose to fame as a commentator in the competitive gaming spectrum. He has been shoutcasting at numerous events around the world since 2009, including Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros Invitational in 2014 at the Electronic Entertainment Expo, and the Nintendo World Championships in 2015. He was also granted the opportunity to cast at the Evolution Championship Series for several years, every Apex Tournament Series international since its inception, Major League Gaming events and more. However, in the summer of 2020, D’Ron was called out and accused of physical assault.

These allegations began to increase with rumors surging, D’Ron was soon ousted by the community. It seemed that the celebrity had dropped from fame overnight. Until recently, D’Ron maintained silence on the accusations. Maingrette released a detailed account of the events leading up to the accusations made against him and the other famous exchanges which provided the outside world with a detailed and transparent account making it much easier to understand the whole situation.

“While the accusations against me and how I’ve been represented are factually false and came from a place of hurt individuals, in this period, I’ve also concluded that I have fallen short of my own expectations. I have become acutely aware of my own failure in participating in a fast-living lifestyle that came with some of my new community “celebrity status” which placed myself in harm’s way. Furthermore, I have learned the dangers of irresponsible alcohol consumption and failure in proper communication which as a result, led someone to receive ridicule within an otherwise very accepting community. While I am humbled by the pain I have caused, I found it imperative that I properly account for the reality of these events that brought pain upon many; myself included. Therefore, throughout this past year I have done my due diligence in accumulating evidence to prove that who I have been presented as, is not who I was.”

D’Ron Maingrette’s incident was a sad reality of what often takes place in the underbelly of the Esports world. Members of the community often fall prey to the fast lifestyle. The sportscaster publicly apologized for his actions, while refuting claims with evidence, and is actively looking to take a turn for the better, given his statements.

With nearly 10 years’ worth of client relations in numerous industries, D’Ron has perfected his craft as a dutiful worker in his field. In 2015, D’Ron was recruited by Twitch as a Strategic Partnerships Program Manager to further bolster the growth of the Super Smash Bros. community. He spent over 5 years building relationships with gaming publishers and developers, growing the viewership and financial earnings of esports, and ultimately helping shape the esports scene to what it is today. Whether in front of cameras or behind the scenes, D’Ron hopes to continue growing the industry he so loves and is passionate for.
