Ocean Exchange to convene maritime leaders, investors, technical experts, and entrepreneurs to fund, support solutions needed for healthy oceans and more sustainable ocean shipping.

FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Sept. 30, 2021 - PRLog -- Celebrating its tenth anniversary, Ocean Exchange will be held in Fort Lauderdale, FL from October 24-26, 2021.  It will feature twelve innovations with the ability to generate economic growth and increase productivity while reducing the use of nature's resources and the production of waste and emissions.

"Starting in 2011, the Ocean Exchange founders believed that amazing solutions exist to solve many of the challenges of healthy oceans but those start-ups needed funding and other help to advance to deployment and commercialization. In ten years, we've proven that hypothesis and have a track record looking back with solutions that are having important impact for healthy oceans, sustainable ocean shipping,  and resilient coastal systems.  We now start our next decade with a short list of start-ups who will compete for our two $100,000 cash awards," stated Millicent Pitts, Executive Director of Ocean Exchange.

The 2021 Twelve Solutions Inspiring Action winners who will compete for monetary awards are:

Element Resources, Inc (USA): Emissions-free shore power (cold ironing) auxiliary power that may be supplied in a portable containerized solution;

GKinetic Energy, Ltd (Ireland): Floating water turbines that work with nature to generate 100% predictable energy;

Glitter (USA): Citizen/business model powered by an app for urban locations near critical watersheds to halt the flow of tons of uncollected litter through gutters and sewers;

IntelliReefs (USA): Biomimicking infrastructure solutions to restore biodiverse underwater ecosystems;

NatureMetrics (UK): e-DNA to quantify carbon sequestration for allocation of carbon credits;

NovFeed (Tanzania): Natural food waste conversion into fish feed;

Seachange Group (USA): Advanced Biofuel diesel replacement that bridges gap to the zero-carbon future;

SoFar Ocean (USA): Smart buoy system to deliver real-time ocean surface and sub-surface data;

Symbrosia (USA): Seaweed feed supplements to significantly reduce livestock methane emissions;

The Maritime Hydrogen Fueling Team (USA):  Resilient, EMP-hardened gigawatt subsea hydrogen grids for large scale GHG reduction;
