Metaverse Immersive Theater BBRUN to be released online on January 18

SEOUL, KOREA - January 18, 2022 /MarketersMedia/

BBRUN, a metaverse immersive theater from the Asia Culture Center that aims to pass down the Korean traditional culture from an Intangible Cultural Property with digital archiving, will be released online to the world on January 18, 2022.

BBRUN is a modern reinterpretation of Korean traditional culture, featuring the inheritors of the Intangible Cultural Property No. 7 Goseong Ogwangdae mask dance. Goseong Ogwangdae is known for its greatest variety and flexible dance moves among all types of Korean traditional mask dances. The metaverse show applies the 5th generation technology standard (5G), motion capture, facial motion capture, and VR/AR technology to the movements of the Goseong Ogwangdae inheritors, allowing the performers and the audience to connect without being in the same space. BBRUN already went on stage last year at the Asia Culture Center, and has received great attention as a unique combination of modern technology and performing arts.

In celebration of 2022, the Asia Culture Center will showcase the metaverse immersive theater BBRUN once more for the audience, to provide them with an opportunity to play and communicate with the performers in real-time. Employing cutting-edge technology from companies with expertise in each field, both the audience and performers can meet without actually being together in person.

This year, in particular, the show will be available both on- and offline (in person) in partnership with the Korean Culture and Information Service (KOCIS). There will be an in-person performance for foreigners living in Korea, as well as an online performance video on the Asia Culture Center and Korea Contents Week YouTube channels. The audience will be able to enjoy the show from not only Korea, but also foreign countries.

BBRUN tells the story of the 999-year-old BiBi, and his 9-year-old son BBRUN, who live on toxic wastes and viruses on earth of the future that has turned into a planet of waste. The never-before-seen form of performance is an adventure for survival on earth of the future. The show will be available for everyone around the world to view on the official YouTube channels of Asia Culture Center and KOCIS Korea Contents Week from Tuesday, January 18, 2022, 19:30 (KST).

Asia Culture Center will provide an ongoing online performance of BBRUN after its January 18 release.
