Mitsubishi Power to add 150 MW/600 MWh BESS projects at three solar sites

Totaling 150 MW/600 MWh, the BESS projects will be co-located with three Origis Energy photovoltaic solar facilities. Mitsubishi Power said the projects will likely come online in the next two years.

Mitsubishi Power plans to supply three utility-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) projects in the southeastern U.S.

Totaling 150 MW/600 MWh, the BESS projects will be co-located with three Origis Energy photovoltaic solar facilities. Mitsubishi Power said the projects will likely come online in the next two years.

Origis will use Mitsubishi Power’s Emerald storage solution for the three projects. The solution includes an integrated plant controller, which is an energy management system and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system with a monitoring and supervisory control platform.

Specific project locations were not provided. Origis Energy has utility-scale solar projects in Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee, among other states.

Origis said the company’s U.S. total for operational and contracted solar and BESS projects is over 4 GW. The company has 2.3 GWh of BESS projects under contract or in negotiations, with 13.7 GWh currently being developed.
