In celebration of Women’s Month and the International Friendship Day, the Women Empowerment League (WEL) brought together more than 1,000 members of the Indian community from all over South Africa to the Castle kyalami in Midrand
Midrand, Gauteng, South Africa - August 4, 2023 —
In celebration of Women’s Month and the International Friendship Day, the Women Empowerment League (WEL) brought together more than 1,000 members of the Indian community from all over South Africa to the Castle Kyalami in Midrand this weekend to celebrate Women’s Month.
With the theme of the event being “Women Empowerment '', the event was attended by business leaders, community leaders, motivational speakers and support from the Consulate General of India’s Office to provide knowledge and opportunities for the upliftment of Women in the community.
The event started with a packed program ranging from motivational talks, presentations by community leaders, traditional Indian cultural music, dancing, food stalls, chess tournaments, face painting and an Indian fashion show.
One of the attendees of the event who was moved by the event said, “Thank you all for celebrating our culture. It is such a beautiful experience to see us all come together and support each other”.
All the attendees were uniformly overjoyed by the activities and the hospitality granted by the Church of Scientology at Castle Kyalami. After the culturally enriched program in the main auditorium of the Castle, the audience moved to outdoor activities, where they were entertained by different stalls providing traditional Indian food, jewelry and fashion where many different cultural and family activities also took place.
The Founder of the Women’s Empowerment League, Ms. Rashmi Haribhat, in her presentation said, “Women Empowerment League's Women's Day event is about celebrating the hardwork, bonding and unity. In addition to the volunteers, participants, stallholders, guests and above all the team from the Church of Scientology for their wonderful support, I thank you all. Women empowerment is a journey. This journey, does not have to be a ‘ladies’ only compartment. We want, Men.... and Women .... both...to travel together, in this journey!”
“The theme for this Women's Day event is ......FREEDOM,” concluded Ms. Haribhat.
A Manager at an Indian Food Stall said, “This has been such an incredible day, Castle Kyalami is such a warm place and we truly appreciate the hospitality.”
The event ended on a high note with much cheering and dancing from the guests.
Markus Neuweiler from the Church of Scientology said, “It was a fantastic day with our friends from the Indian Community and the rest of the neighborhood had a cultural experience like no other”.
