Proponents drop push to give downstate Illinois utilities, including Ameren, dibs on new transmission lines

Illinois state Rep. Larry Walsh Jr., D-Elwood, who sponsored the vetoed bill, which would have granted downstate Illinois utilities the right of first refusal for new electric transmission lines, said he’ll propose a broader policy in the spring legislative session.
