ACS Launches Rev A Technology; Provides Fastest Mobile Data Speeds Available in the Nation

Alaska Communications Systems Group, Inc. (ACS) (Nasdaq:ALSK), announced today that it has launched EV-DO Rev A Mobile Internet technology.

Rev A is the latest evolution in Mobile Internet. It will enable ACS wireless customers to move dataeverything from pictures and spreadsheets to movies and musicat the fastest mobile speeds available in the United States. Rev A is the next step in ACS commitment to provide customers with the fastest relative speeds and most reliable wireless broadband service they have come to expect, said Connie Dorman, ACS Director of Marketing.

ACS customers can test the speed of Rev A against competitors technology by stopping by our Dimond Mall store in Anchorage. Additional Test the Best sites will be set up at three other Anchorage locations and in Fairbanks during August. Customers can expect to enjoy speeds that are approximately 12 times faster than at&ts EDGE technology.

ACS was the first communications provider to offer Alaska high-speed mobile data through its 3G CDMA network in 2004. The company expects to complete its deployment of Rev A this week. Rev A is currently available on the CDU-680 Mobile Internet Key, and ACS has a number of other Rev A devices planned for the near future. The Mobile Internet Key plugs into any Mac or PC USB port and allows users to surf the Internet from almost anywhere they can receive a cell phone signal. It supports Internet access at true broadband speeds.

ACS roams on Rev A in much of Canada. In the Lower 49, ACS expects to initiate Rev A roaming later this year. This strategic investment positions ACS to continue to lead the wireless market in Alaska and to provide our customers with the latest and best telecommunications services available.
