ACS Announces New Vice President, Process Transformation & IT

Alaska Communications Systems Group, Inc. ("ACS") (NASDAQ:ALSK), Alaska's leading integrated communications provider, today announced the appointment of Russell Girten as Vice President, Process Transformation & Information Technology. This is a new leadership position at ACS, designed to leverage the Companys legacy in wireline as it builds an outstanding Enterprise line of business. Girten will drive ACS continuous process transformation, advance its IT operation, and strategically develop its billing operations. He assumes the role effective today.

Russells experience as a leader of strategy and technology will further ACS aggressive transformation into a 21st century provider of Enterprise solutions. Girten comes to ACS with a successful track record of process and business transformation, product development and IT work. Most recently he served with IBM as an Associate Partner Global Telecommunications Center of Excellence. He previously was Director of Reengineering Implementation at Pacific Bell and prior to that served as a manager of national network and private line services at Sprint.
