Alaska Communications Systems Announces New Retail Store in Anchorage; Sears Mall Location to Hold Grand Opening and Feature "Test the Best" Station

Alaska Communications Systems Group, Inc. (ACS) (NASDAQ: ALSK) has opened a new retail location in Anchorage. ACS will host a grand opening for the new store at The Mall at Sears, located on East Northern Lights Boulevard at the Seward Highway, on Saturday, August 16, featuring a live broadcast by K-BEAR 104.1 and prizes for customers.

Adding a fifth store in Anchorage, especially in Midtown, reflects our growth as a company and our commitment to providing the most outstanding customer service possible. This is our 15th retail location in Alaska. We chose The Mall at Sears as the right spot given its convenient location in the heart of Anchorage, said Janet Klatt, Director of Retail Sales and Service.

Located outside the Sears department store on the north side of the mall, the new ACS retail center will feature a Test the Best station where the public can experience a side-by-side comparison of ACS EVDO Rev A network the fastest mobile Internet speed available in the nation against at&ts EDGE technology. Rev A is a cornerstone of ACS commitment to provide the fastest and most reliable wireless broadband service customers have come to expect.

The new store is open from Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and on Sundays from noon until 6 p.m.

As part of the grand opening on Saturday, August 16, ACS will offer refreshments and gift bags. K-BEAR 104.1 will broadcast live from the store between noon and 2 p.m. and announce the winners of various prizes, including a Bluetooth headset, cell phone cases and other accessories. In addition, customers can enter a drawing from August 15-17 for an ASUS mini-PC.

The ASUS Eee PC 900 makes it easy to connect to the Internet with an ACS EVDO Rev A Mobile Key. The device provides the power of a full-sized laptop in a compact body that fits in the palm of a hand. It features a 1.3-megapixel webcam, a Secure Digital memory card slot, Wi-Fi connectivity (802.11b/g), multiple USB ports (including one for the ACS EVDO Rev A Mobile Key), a VGA output for connecting to a monitor, and 1 GB of RAM. The ASUS Eee PC can handle digital images, movies, and music as well as Internet radio.
