ACS Appoints New Vice President, Engineering; Executive to Lead Network Technology Improvements

Alaska Communications Systems Group, Inc. ("ACS") (NASDAQ: ALSK) today appointed Michael Todd to a newly created leadership position at the Company Vice President, Engineering.

In this role, Todd will drive strategic and operational network planning and engineering for all of ACS wireless and wireline networks. Todd will lead product innovation, support complex sales efforts and oversee the design, engineering and optimization of ACS network, including the repositioning of ACS existing infrastructure to better serve the needs of Enterprise customers.

Mike Todd knows not only how to design and execute network engineering solutions but will provide great leadership in driving strategic and operational objectives at ACS. As ACS undergoes rapid transformation to strengthen its leadership position in wireless, and to better serve the high-demand, high-value Enterprise market, Mike is the right person in the right role, said Anand Vadapalli, Senior Vice President, Network & IT.

Todd is a seasoned veteran of telecom engineering and operations management. He comes to ACS from Sprint where he most recently served as Staff Operations Director, Network Services. He also held other leadership positions at Sprint, and has previously served in technology and leadership roles in Nortel and Ericsson.

Todds appointment is effective today. He and his family are relocating to Anchorage from Overland Park, Kansas.
