ACS Installs Emergency Extended Wireless Coverage to Help Fight Homer Wildfires

Alaska Communications Systems Group, Inc. (“ACS”) (NASDAQ: ALSK), Alaska's leading integrated communications provider, installed a booster today on the McNeil Canyon cell site in Homer. The booster will double the coverage area from the McNeil Canyon and will provide wildfire emergency responders with extended wireless coverage.

“The cell booster will give emergency responders enhanced coverage so that they can receive cell service at the perimeter of the fire,” said Ed Bryson, ACS vice president of field operations.

ACS is providing the booster as a free public service and will leave it up as long as emergency responders need it.

“Until now, we had been relying on limited radio communication,” said Jordan Halden, Type One Incident Management Team, communications unit leader. “The expanded coverage will help us respond faster and communicate more clearly. We appreciate the quick response and service from ACS.”
